About GENJI

GENJI is a luxury brand born from Japan's traditional crafts.

In Europe, there are maisons built around the skill of their artisans and cherished for generations. GENJI turns Japanese traditional techniques such as maki-e lacquer, dyeing and weaving into pieces you can wear and use every day, and is building that kind of house from Japan. Our first partner is the atelier of Mitsuhiko Takada, a maki-e artist in Kanazawa.

Maki-e is a Japanese lacquer technique passed down for more than a thousand years. Most of it lives in museums and tea rooms, and few people ever get to touch it in daily life. GENJI brings this craft into everyday life, as objects you can hold in your hands.

People come from abroad, from Italy and beyond, to learn this craft from Mitsuhiko Takada. GENJI connects the work of its makers with clients around the world, and aims to hand the craft on to the next generation.
